In the wake of reports that the Couillard government will be announcing a tax cut of about $200 per person in next week's economic update, Québec solidaire has unveiled a proposal to give Quebecers two more holidays per year plus guaranteed vacation time.
Gouin MNA Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois says the party's proposed "anti-burnout" legislation would oblige employers to offer employees at least three weeks vacation in their first year of work, and four weeks vacation as of their second year on the job.
Nadeau-Dubois says the additional time off would have no effect on Quebec's Gross Domestic Product because workers would return to their jobs rested and more productive.
In addition to guaranteed vacation time, the proposal calls for International Women's Day on March 8 and International Workers Day on May 1st to be declared official holidays.
