Quebec's cannabis retailer, the Société québécoise du cannabis, says the supply issues that have plagued it since its stores opened for business are improving — so much so that it can reopen its stores on Wednesdays again.
When the federal government legalized pot last October, the stores were originally opened seven days a week. But the stores were immediately besieged by long lineups, and far too little supply to meet demand. That prompted the stores to close on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
A handful of stores across the province, including the one on Ste. Catherine St. downtown, started reopening on Wednesdays as part of a pilot project — which the SQDC is calling a success.
The provincial agency says it is still working on lining up other suppliers before it can resume its original seven-day-a-week schedule.
