The province’s Régie des marchés agricoles et alimentaires has authorized an increase in the price of milk.
The increases vary according to where the purchase is being made and the fat content of the milk. However, the price hike generally ranges from four to six cents a litre.
For example, in the region that includes Montréal and Quebec City, the maximum retail price for a litre of homogenized milk is $1.92, $1.85 for a litre of two per cent fat content milk, $1.78 for a litre of one per cent fat content milk and $.172 for a litre of skim milk.
The price of milk has remained unchanged for two years.
Consumers who notice that these prices are not being respected are urged to contact the Régie des marchés agricoles et alimentaires.
