With members of the Parti Quebecois set to start voting for a new leader on Wednesday, a poll this morning indicates that most Quebecers feel the issue of independence for Quebec has been settled.
An Angus Reid survey for the CBC says 64% of respondents agree that the "issue of Quebec sovereignty is settled, and Quebec will remain in Canada." In addition, fully three-quarters of Quebecers agreed that the province "should stay in Canada".
When it comes to pride in their country, the survey indicates that Quebecers are more subdued than Canadians in the rest of the country.
31% of Quebecers say they are "very proud" to be Canadian, another 31% say they are "proud" to be Canadian.
Outside Quebec, 27% of respondents said they were "very proud", but 52% said they were "proud" to be Canadian.
The vote to select a new Parti Quebecois leader takes place by phone and online starting Wednesday.
The winner will be announced at a rally in Quebec City on Friday.
