While hints have been dropped here and there, one line from a government document released two months ago may show the brightest future for a Pink metro line in Montreal.
Released on December 11, 2017 the '2018-2022 government strategy to ensure the occupancy and vitality of territories – Regions at the helm: a true revolution is underway' lists the creation of a new metro line as its number two priority, just under improved accessibility for the disabled, for improving public transportation and mobility.
In the document the Premier states going forward the provincial government's actions would be based on the needs of each region.
It's the first major show of commitment to the proposed metro extension.
Originally the provincial government wouldn't say one way or another how it felt about the idea of a Pink line, but in recent weeks has been seemingly warming up to the idea.
When speaking to reporters earleir this month about Bombardier not being picked to build the trains for the billion dollar light rail project Couillard said "I'm preoccupied by our workers in La Pocatiere. Now they have work for some time, they have trains for the actual metro, the blue line, very soon and maybe the pink line I hope."
