Quebec government lawyers and notaries are launching a general unlimited strike on Monday.
They'll hold demonstrations outside Quebec courthouses in major citiies, incuding Montreal.
The 1,100Â lawyers, representing the government in civil, administrative and criminal cases and act as legal counsel for ministers, have been without a contract for a year and a half.
The walkout is expected to delay legal opinions, court proceedings and government legislation.
The union apparently wants to to switch the negotiation process from the current mediation proecss to binding arbitration and that it's willing to forgo the right to walkout to make the change.
