Finance Minister Carlos Leitão will give an economic update today, saying Quebecers will be relieved with his plans for the more than billion dollar surplus.
This summer Leitão announced a $1.8 billion surplus for the last fiscal year, and on Monday he said reinvesting into public services will be among the priorities for the government.
This latest update will provide an exact amount as to how much all of the Liberals' belt-tightening measures add up to, and how that money will be spent going forward.
There are many predictions that the health tax will be abolished, one year ahead of schedule. While other investments in health, education and economic development also expected.
During their 2014 election campaign, the Quebec Liberals promised an equal share of a surplus in 2015-2016 to tax cuts and debt reduction.
