Quebec's Health minister is reported saying that beginning in the fall, the number of students admitted to medical programs in universities will be cut.
According to the Journal de Montreal, Gaetan Barette is concerned there won't be enough positions.
The figure will be diminished by 17 this year.
Similar cuts will be made for the following two years.
A recently-published document by the Health ministry says, at the current pace, Quebec will have more than a thousand too many doctors in 20 years, including 500 specialists.
