Police in the provincial capital are investigating an assault that took place in a bar Friday night as a possible hate crime.
A spokesperson for Quebec City's police service says that a group of men kicked and punched a man in his early twenties after he described himself as being "Antifa", the common term for anti-racist activists.
The assault took place at around 1:00 am at the LvlOp bar on Saint-Joseph street in the city's inner Saint-Roch district. Witnesses helped authorities locate a "primary" suspect, a man also in his early twenties. He was scheduled to appear in provincial court today.
The victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his head, including a possible concussion.
