Canada has scored well in an international evaluation of the quality, equity and efficiency of educational systems made public Tuesday by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Singapore topped the 2015 standings followed closely by Japan, Estonia, Finland and Canada.
The nations were cited for their high levels of performance combined with the equity of their education systems.
The study, conducted every three years, examines 72 countries and evaluates the level of knowledge acquired by students aged 15 and over.
Quebec recorded results higher than the OECD average and those of other Canadian provinces, with Quebec students claiming third place worldwide in math and fifth place in sciences.
