The official opposition at Montreal city hall says the Ville Marie borough has to cancel its $3-million contract for 12 public toilets now that we're learning that the sole bidder admitted in court documents to submitting fake bills and offering bribes for obtaining public contracts.
"It's problematic," said Projet Montreal leader Valérie Plante.
"We can definitely not go through with this contract having all those informations."
That information by the Journal de Montreal says the company in question, Imagineo is being investigated by UPAC and Revenu Quebec. Bernard Bolduc is described as chief of operations.
Plante said the tenders process should be revised as well.
"Maybe it was too difficult for people to apply for different contractors and that is not a good practice. We should have as many contractors as possible so we can make the best choice," said Plante in an interview with CJAD 800 News.
The borough said the contract is still under review and will be analyzed by a technical committee.
