Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said "a process is now properly underway'' to investigate a sexist comment allegedly made by a male Montreal Liberal M-P to a female Conservative M-P at a meeting earlier this month.
The National Post reported Liberal M-P Nicola Di Iorio, who represents the riding of Saint Leonard-Saint Michel, asked Conservative M-P Dianne Watts "where's your pole to slide down on?'' after hearing her ringtone at a meeting on March 8th -- International Women's Day.
Trudeau added part of his commitment to gender equality and a harassment-free workplace is the creation of a process to deal with these sorts of issues.
Watts said the comment was unacceptable, and she leaves it in the hands of the prime minister to take whatever actions he feels appropriate.
A government statement says Di Iorio did not mean any offence and has twice offered Watts an apology.
