The Parti Quebecois says it will reimburse $90,000 in illegal contributions received between 2006 and 2009, though the party was ordered to repay nearly triple that amount by Quebec's chief electoral officer.
Originally, the election director-general had ordered the PQ to pay back $264,150.
"The difference [...] will be the subject of a request for further investigation by the legal team of the Parti Québécois," a statement from the party issues Saturday said. "The party will ask the electoral office to investigate and make a clear demonstration of the non-conformity of these contributions [to provincial party contribution rules]."
