About 1,000 animals were killed in a fire Wednesday at a pig farm in Saint-Robert, south of Sorel in the Montérégie region.
The fire broke out in a barn at Ferme Suporsonique around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Sorel-Tracy Fire Department.
The blaze may have ignited by work being conducted inside the barn, there has been no evidence of arson found.
The building is a total loss.
Four employees were there when the fire broke out, but no humans were harmed.
