If you were one of the many people stuck on Curé-Labelle Blvd. Tuesday morning, things should be better today.
Traffic on the major roadway was backed up for hours, from Highway 440 to the Marius-Dufresne Bridge, with many residents complaining it took close to an hour to drive a couple of blocks down the street.
The problem appears to be traced back to a perfect storm: the latest round of road work by the city forced the closure of two of the busy boulevards lanes, on the same day as new reserved bus lanes were implemented.
"A serious lack of planning!" Fabreville counselor Michel Trottier wrote on his Facebook page. "How can we close one of Laval's major North-South roadways at peak morning rush hour, the same morning as the new reserved lane?"
"Doing the work at night should be considered to ensure a steady flow of traffic during peak hours."
The city's 311 hotline was flooded was complaints, as was Trottier's Facebook page after he made his own complaints.
On its website the city of Laval said some measures will be put in place to avoid another mess Wednesday morning.
The traffic lights at the corners of St-Elzéard and Dagenais will be changed to improve flow, and Laval police officers will be on hand to direct traffic.
The new road work will continue, and it's expected to last until the end of November.
