A poll commissioned for Le Devoir indicates that most Quebecers want to see a professional baseball team in Montreal, but are opposed to government support to help make it happen.
The Leger survey was conducted between April 13 and April 15.
58% of respondents said they would like to see major league baseball return to Montreal, while 27% were opposed.
However, when asked whether the government should invest public money for a professional baseball team 58% of respondents said no while 32% said yes.
The poll comes shortly after Mayor Valérie Plante met with Montreal businessmen Stephen Bronfman and Mitch Garber who are spearheading an effort to bring a team to Montreal.
