Supporters of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) are going to be feeling pretty good today with the release of an Ipsos Public Affairs poll showing the party is now being seriously considered as an alternative to the Quebec Liberal Party.
The poll was conducted between last Saturday and Tuesday of this week.
Among Francophones the CAQ has 32% support, the Parti Quebecois has 29% and the Liberals 24%.
Overall, The Liberals lead with 32% of decided respondents, the CAQ has 28% and the PQ is at 24%. Québec Solidaire has 12%.
CAQ support is strong in Quebec City and in the regions.
Ipsos vice-president Sebastien Dallaire says the survey results show the CAQ and Parti Quebecois have potential to grow support.
CAQ leader François Legault is considered the person who would make the best premier with 23% support.
20% of respondents named Philippe Couillard and PQ leader Jean-François Lisée was well back with 13% support.
