Laval police shot and killed a dog this afternoon, after it attacked a woman, biting her hand, arm, foot and leg.
The 42-year-old woman is in hospital, but will survive.
Marc Ravary, the victim's boyfriend, says he wasn't happy with how police handled the situation.
"All the kids were here. They seen him shoot him down. 10-12 rounds. And they zapped him, electric," said Ravary. "I didn't think much of him. I told him what I thought of him, especially in front of the kids."
Police say they had no other choice.
"Different tactics were used to try and get the dog to release its bite, even the taser gun was used," said Laval police spokeswoman Evelyne Boudreault. "It did not really prove to be effective, so the police officer decided that the only option left was to use his firearm."
Ravary says the dog was a Bull Terrier, one of the breeds often labelled a pit bull.
