A suspected fraud artist picked the wrong person to mess with when she demanded compensation from a restaurant owner after allegedly choking on a piece of cellophane that she found in her meal.
The woman also threatened to trash the restaurant's reputation online if she wasn't paid.
The Journal de Montreal reports the scam has worked and the woman has managed to collect several hundred dollars in payments from a number of restaurants.
Police in Quebec City have confirmed they have opened an investigation into the case after Tony Tannous shared his story and photos of the suspect on his Facebook page.
In the past four days about 120 restaurant owners have shared similar tales from across Quebec including Granby, Victoriaville, Thetford Mines the Beauce region as well as Quebec City and Levis.
Tannous will meet with investigators today.
His is the only complaint police are looking into so far.
