Police in Longueuil are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who approached an 8-year-old girl in St-Hurbert this week.
Investigators said in happened at about 8:10 A.M. Tuesday.
The girl was walking along William St. near Joyal Park when she noticed a man waiting at a bus stop. As she crossed the street to head toward the park the man appeared to follow her.
Police say he approached her and then quickly left.
Investigators describe the man as being in his 30s and spoke French with a Spanish accent. He's stands about 5-feet 6-inches tall and is thin.
He has short brown hair with a full beard. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with blue jeans, black shoes and a pair of sunglasses.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or knows someone who matches the description is being asked to call Longueuil police at 450-463-7211.
With the park and an elementary school located nearby police said they will be increasing patrols in the area.
