Montreal police have begun surveying the southern banks of the Rivière des Prairies in the Parc de Bateliers in Ahuntsic-Cartierville as the search for Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou approaches its seventh day.
Officers were searching in and around the ice in the river ahead of a dive in search of him that is expected to take place early this week.
Last week, the fire department deployed an ice-search squad into the park for part of the day on Wednesday.
Kouakou disappeared almost without a trace on Monday at lunchtime after leaving home to visit a friends' house. This weekend, his parents offered a $10,000 reward for his return, Quebec boxer Adonis Stevenson has offered a further $15,000.
