The union representing police officers in the region claims management has ordered each officer assigned to traffic duty to generate at least $1300 in revenue per day.
For its part the police department says officers are not given a dollar figure but are required to issue two tickets an hour during their shift.
The union has filed a grievance saying police officers should be allowed to use their discretion when issuing tickets.
The back story to all this is that the police officers have been working without a contract since January of 2016.
A tentative contract agreement was reached earlier this year, but the rank and file voted to reject it.
