Montreal police have arrested a 22-year-old man they say was behind a series of “particularly violent” armed robberies in Ahuntsic and Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie.
“Since the end of May, three similar robberies have been committed by one suspect,” police said in a release detailing the arrest on Wednesday of Oxlandino Noel Jeune.
“He acted in the morning between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and targeted people using an ATM,” the statement continued. “Very violent and armed with a weapon, he attacked his victims by beating them and inflicting serious injuries.”
“He demanded their money and then forced them to make an additional withdrawal.”
Police say his attacks, armed with a knife, got increasingly more brutal, and it took added resources from the local 42 and 44 Divisions to locate and arrest the 22-year-old.
The 22-year-old Noel Jeune was arrested on Wednesday and arraigned in court the following day. He faces several charges including three counts of robbery.
