Montreal police are looking for more possible victims of a 20-year-old man arrested last week on suspicion of having sexually explicit online conversations with a 10-year-old girl.
On March 31, the Montreal police sexual exploitation unit arrested Steven Hoai Trung Lam on March 31, and a search of his home led to the seizure of potentially incriminating material.
Police say he was active on several social media platforms, using the following handles:
• Aznslam or HrnyAznboy on Kik
• Slammt1habs on Instagram
• Aznslam on Whisper
Police say the man spent the last three years as a monitor at a day camp at the Don Bosco Youth Leadership Centre.
The man appeared in court in Montreal on April 3 and facing several charges, including child luring, transmitting sexually explicit material to someone under the age of 14, and possessing, accessing, and distributing child pornography.
He's been freed on several conditions — he's now under a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, he can't be around anyone under 18, and can't use a computer or access the Internet.
Anyone who may have been in contact with Steven Hoai Trung Lam is being urged to call 9-1-1, or visit their local police station, to file a formal complaint.
