The Montreal police department is investigating the carbon monoxide leak at an elementary school in LaSalle earlier this month.
On January 14, 35 children and eight adults at école des Découvreurs were taken to hospital after extremely high levels of carbon monoxide leaked into the school. The incident was traced to the school's heating system and was made worse due to the fact the building's carbon monoxide detector malfunctioned. The system has since been repaired and the detector has been replaced.
This week a couple dozen parents of students at the school wanted answers from the administration and the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Board, however officials could not give many details about the situation due to the ongoing criminal negligence investigation.
The board said it will fully cooperate with investigators.
Following the leak Education Minister Jean-Francois Roberge announced the provincial government would make CO detectors mandatory in schools.
