Montreal police are currently investigating the site of a stabbing in the Mile-End neighbourhood that took place earlier this morning.
Police spokesman Benoit Boiselle told CJAD 800 that two 911 calls were made around 2:30 this morning after a 24-year-old man was stabbed at a crowded late-night event at the popular Rialto Theatre on Parc Avenue near Bernard. The man has since been transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body.
The perpetrator is believed to have fled the scene before officers arrived. No motive or connection between the victim and the perpetrator is known at this time.
Several hundred people were reportedly on-site when the stabbing took place, and police are now identifying primary witnesses. A canine unit has also been dispatched to the crime scene, according to police.
