Montreal police confirm to CTV News that they are investigating after hate messages were sent to 2 local synagogues.
B'nai Brith Canada says a letter containing an anti-semitic phrase and image was sent to Beth Ora and Shaare Zedek synagogues in this city, as well as a synagogue in Toronto and in Edmonton.
Spokesperson Daniel Koren says they are taking the incident seriously.
"Any type of hatred you see like this, you have to take it seriously because you never know where it's coming from," he tells CJAD 800.
B'nai Brith is encouraging Quebecers and Canadians to stand in solidarity with the Jewish community to denounce the hate mail.
Advocacy groups report a steady increase in the number of hate crimes reported in Montreal and Quebec in the past 5 years.
