A 13-year-old boy has been suspended from playing amateur hockey for the rest of the season after he attacked a referee during a game last month.
Benjamin Paradis was refereeing a Bantam hockey tournament in Rivière-du-Loup November 23.
He had just assessed a penalty to the 13-year-old, when the boy raised his stick and clubbed him across the neck.
Paradis is also an assistant principal at a high school in Rivière-du-Loup.
The Journal de Montreal reports that after the game he filed a complaint with the Sûreté du Québec and they have opened a case against the boy.
