The police ethics committee is hearing the case of a man who was recently found not guilty of uttering threats, among other things, at an off-duty police officer.
The charges against Jeffery Pokora stem from a 2015 road rage incident involving Montreal police officer Roberto Tomarelli.
It happened in LaSalle when Pokora was driving and followed a motorist he thought was driving dangerously, but didn't know the man was a cop.
There was subsequently a verbal spat and Pokora decided to block the other man's vehicle in a driveway while calling 911.
Security footage shows Tomarelli's vehicle going backwards and ramming Pokora's car.
Pokora said he's happy with the committee's decision to holding a hearing.
"It was great news for a Friday, it was the 14th, I believe it was. I was kinda dumbfounded a little bit because for years, well, it seems like years, but forever, they've been just denying and denying and denying, and finally once you have a judgement, you can no longer argue when inside the judgement, he says he's not acting as a person" said Pokora in an interview with CJAD 800 News.
Pokora added a decision by the committee is expected by year's end.
