There were raids in three provinces Wednesday morning aimed at taking down a luxury car theft ring.
The raids happened in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. The Surete du Quebec says they arrested 16 people, ranging in age from 20 to 56.
They were picked up in several locales across the province, including St. Zotique, off the western tip of Montreal island, as well as in the Townships and the Quebec City area.
They face a variety of charges, including theft, concealment and conspiracy.
The ring apparently specialized in stealing cargo containers — mainly of high-end vehicles, but also, food shipments. They would then resell the goods in various places, including in the Montreal area.
