Plateau-Mont-Royal officials are looking to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety by reducing speed limits.
Borough council adopted an ordinance Monday that would reduce the speed limit on main thoroughfares to 40 kilometres an hour and 30 kilometres an hour on main streets in school zones.
A similar measure was passed in 2015, reducing side street limits to 30 kilometres an hour.
The order is now in the hands of Quebec's Transport Ministry, which has 90 days to make its decision.
If new limits are approved they would come into effect in May.
