Former Toronto Blue Jays star pitcher Roy Halladay has died after his plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico. He was 40.
The sheriff's department in Pasco County, Fla., confirmed Halladay's body was found at the scene of the crash.
Halladay won the Cy Young Award twice, first with the Blue Jays in 2003 and again in 2010 with the Philadelphia Phillies.
He threw the the 20th perfect game in MLB history while pitching for the Phillies on May 29, 2010.
Later that season became only the second pitcher in baseball history to pitch a post-season no-hitter — a National League Division Series win over the Cincinnati Reds.
The only other post-season no-hitter was Don Larsen's famous 1956 World Series perfect game for the Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Halladay began his career with the Blue Jays in 1998, and pitched 12 seasons with in Toronto before being traded to the Phillies in December 2009.
He last pitched in 2013.
Halladay posted a career 203-105 mark, with a 3.38 earned-run average.
