Projet Montreal mayoralty hopeful Valerie Plante says ground might not be broken on her proposed pink metro line until her second term in office.
When Plante rolled out her signature election promise two weeks ago, she suggested construction would actually begin on a pink line in 2021 — during the final year of her first mandate.
On Wednesday, she suggested the extra time would be devoted to conducting studies and lining up the proper financing.
She insists the 29-station line, which would run from Lachine to Montreal North, would cost $6 billion dollars — with money coming from federal and provincial infrastructure funds — and would be complete by 2028.
Members of the Coderre administration have been skeptical about the feasibility of the project — particularly the $6 billion price tag.
