Quebec Minister of Finance Pierre Moreau will soon return to work, the CHU de Québec-Université Laval advised on Sunday.
In a statement issued late Sunday afternoon, Maryse Turcotte, director of professional services at the hospital, said Moreau has "received several treatments over the last few months to which he has responded very well".
She added that Moreau "will be perfectly able to resume his professional activities" following a few additional weeks of convalescence.
The CHU de Québec-Université Laval release advised the hospital will not give any further comment on Moreau's recovery.
Moreau will attend a brunch in his riding of Châteauguay on December 18 and will return to work in January.
In February, Pierre Moreau stepped aside as education minister following a medical scare that saw him leave the National Assembly in an ambulance. He was later diagnosed with encephalitis and meningitis.
Following the Quebec Liberals' victory in the 2014 provincial election, Moreau was originally appointed Quebec Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy. In October 2015, he was promoted to Minister of Public Safety before becoming Minister of Education a few months later.
Moreau will join the Andrew Carter Morning Show on CJAD 800 on Monday, November 21 at 8:10 a.m. to discuss his recovery and imminent return to work.
