An eight-person patrol unit will enforce Montreal's controversial pit bull bylaw.
As well, police have the power to ticket those who break the law.
The Quebec Court of Appeal reinstated the bylaw this past week after it was suspended.
Among other things, owners of pit bull-type dogs have until the end of December to register with the city.
The court did say the city must honor its commitment not to order putting down any type of dog not specifically-desginated as, among other things, dangerous, until there's a final judgement on the legality of the bylaw.
The SPCA, which had secured the suspension, says its fight against the bylaw is not over.
