Next time you get a parking ticket, it will cost you significantly more.
The city of Montreal is planning to boost the fines you get if you park illegally and the province is hiking the administrative fees on those fines.
It is the second time in a year that the city has raised parking fines.
The standard parking fine will go up by $1.00 to $50.00 but provincial administration fees ranging from $13.00 to $28.00 will be tacked on.
Fines will double to $302.00 dollars, if you're caught parking in a reserved bus lane.
Mayor Valerie Plante denies it's a cash grab and hopes motorists will respect parking signs to improve safety and the flow of traffic.
"I'm hoping it will change behaviours. I'm more interested in changing behaviours than getting the money," she says.
