You've got to hand it to the marketing firm that designed the new advertising campaign for Weber-Stephen Products; the team knows how to turn some heads.
The new billboard, featuring former Hab P.K. Subban, can be seen from the eastbound Ville-Marie Expressway.
"J'aime mon Weber," or "I love my Weber," it says.
You're not imagining things, this isn't an April Fools' joke almost two weeks late. It's an ad for charcoal, gas and electric barbeques.
The (not so) subtle nod to the 2016 trade that saw the Habs and Nashville Predators swap D-men (Subban for Shea Weber) is the brain child of Laval advertising firm Gendron Communication.
The group went for the obvious link: in Montreal when you hear the name Weber it's hard not to think of P.K. Subban, making him the perfect spokesperson.
Gendron Communication said it wanted to do something that would make people smile and to poke a little fun at the deal. It also gives Subban the opportunity to reinforce his connection to the city, a chance he jumped at.
Weber-Stephen Products is an American company currently looking to expand its business into Quebec and Canada.
