The owners of Linguini restaurant in Baie d'Urfé are vowing to rebuild after last weekend's devastating fire.
The restaurant was a landmark along the Trans-Canada highway for nearly a quarter century until a fire gutted the building early Saturday morning.
Ralph Demarco, who opened the restaurant in 1993, isn't hesitating to say they plan on rebuilding the place exactly where it was, and as close to the way it was, as possible.
"We're in the process," Demarco says, "the investigation is coming to a close, and now we're going to start the process of reopening and taking care of staff, and so on and so forth."
Demarco believes the fire began outside the building, in a bag of oily rags that somehow ignited — though arson investigators are still on the case.
The building, which was mostly made of wooden walls and pillars, is a total loss.
He says the social media response to the fire has been tremendous, and is thanking everyone for the messages of support.
He's hoping to have the restaurant back up and running in about four or five months — provided everything goes smoothly.
