More Bixis are coming to your borough and the city of Montreal is paying around $46M for the expansion.
The city announced a new 10 year deal with the bike-sharing service which will expand its operations to all 19 boroughs by 2028.
Right now, Bixis are available in 11 boroughs.
More bikes and docks will be added to five more boroughs starting this year:
The expansion will reach all the way out to boroughs where people mostly drive, including Pierrefonds-Roxboro (starting in 2021) and Île Bizard-Ste Geneviève (only after 2022 due to work on the REM light rail project).
The executive committee member in charge of transport said the costs and expansion are justified.
"All the boroughs ask for it," Éric Alan Caldwell told reporters.
"It's a healthy and safe way to access to local services."
Westmount and Longueuil are already part of the network.
Caldwell said it'll be up to the other demerged cities on the island to decide if they want to pay to get on board with Bixi.
