Residents of Saint-Lambert who already had problems with the noise coming from the concerts at Parc Jean-Drapeau may be in for the worst summer ever in 2017.
On Wednesday, Evenko announced due to construction work being done at the site of the major summer concerts, the 2017 editions of the Osheaga, Heavy Montreal and ÎleSoniq music festivals will be held at the circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Île Notre-Dame.
In the past, the South Shore city has mounted a legal challenge, trying to have a judge force the concert promoter to turn the volume down from 11.
Residents have said the sound from the concerts creates wind so strong it can be felt inside their homes, adding the sound of the bass alone is enough to shake some buildings.
Depending on the placement of the stages, the new venue could end up being about 650 metres closer to Saint-Lambert.
When asked how the new site would affect Saint-Lambert residents, evenko media relations manager Philip Vanden Brande told CTV Montreal in an email, "The evenko teams are currently studying various logistic scenarios in order to continue to present popular events that meet the highest industry standards and that always offer festival goers a memorable experience."
