If you were hoping for an Oprah Winfrey versus Donald Trump battle for the U.S. presidency in 2020, the TV mogul herself says she's not interested.
In an interview with InStyle magazine published Thursday, she suggested the campaigning required for the job just isn't for her.
"I've always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not," Winfrey told the magazine, "and so it's not something that interests me. I don't have the DNA for it."
Both her partner, Stedman Graham, and her bestie, Gayle King, had fueled speculation about a possible run for president in the wake of her speech at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month. During the speech, which has been rebroadcast and shared on social media thousands of times over, she spoke about issues of gender, race, and on the MeToo movement against sexual harassment and assault.
A draft-Oprah movement immediately began on social media following the speech, with hashtags like #OprahforPresident and #Oprah2020 popping up — as well as think pieces on why she should or shouldn't run.
The interview with InStyle editor-in-chief Laura Brown happened three weeks before the Golden Globes speech.
