A woman who was found guilty of stealing $86,000 after a bank mistakenly deposited $150,000 into her savings account now faces the prospect of losing her nursing licence.
43 year old Calinie Nivyabandi was ordered to perform 180 hours of community service, and pay $37,000 restitution to the Caisse Populaire in Cartierville after a teller accidentally made the deposit to her account in 2011.
Instead of reporting it, Nivyabandi went on a spending spree before the bank realized it's error, froze her account and called police.
At her trial Nivyabandi claimed she thought a long lost uncle and left her the money.
She has since lost her job and has been ordered to appear before the disciplinary committee of the Quebec Order of Nurses where she faces penalties that include suspending her right to work as a nurse.
