Notre-Dame Hospital officials have put out the word that they are not closed and have plenty of room for patients now that the new French super hospital has opened.
Two weeks ago, 110 patients were transferred to the CHUM facility from Notre-Dame, leaving dozens of beds empty.
The hospital has now been designated a community-based general care hospital complete with an emergency room, intensive care unit and operating rooms.
The Journal de Montreal says all departments are currently being underutilized with short wait-times in emergency and for blood tests, medical imaging and various procedures in the fields of cardiology, urology, pediatrics and obstetrics.
Surgical rooms, for example, are operating at only 30% of capacity.
