The good news: We won't see the 30+ centimeters of snow this weekend that had been predicted earlier this week.
Don't put the shovel away though because there is still the potential for about 15-20 centimetres to fall on Sunday, possibly into Monday.
“There’s still some uncertainty as to the exact track of this storm system, but it has the potential to bring heavy accumulating snow into our region for the weekend,” said CTV weather specialist Lori Graham.
Environment Canada had a similar forecast when it released a special weather statement Thursday
"The expected scenario depends greatly on the exact track of the storm, which is still volatile," the agency said. "A track a little further north could mean a major winter storm for all Southern Quebec, while a shift southward would spare these same regions."
If the snow wasn't enough, bone-chilling temperatures are on the way late Saturday into Sunday. The daytime high on Saturday is projected to be around -20°C, with a good gust of wind that'll feel closer to -33°C.
Along with the snow on Sunday, temperatures will only reach -16°C as the storm generates very strong and frigid northerly winds which are also expected to create blowing snow conditions and greatly reduce visibility on the road.
