During an emergency meeting Tuesday night the Lester B. Pearson school board council of commissioners named a new board chair.
Noel Burke, who had been acting as the board's interim chair, was appointed Suanne Stein Day's official replacement.
Stein Day resigned last week after a seven month personal leave of absence. The former chair had previously been found guilty of breaching the board's code of ethics on three occasions.
Stein Day said her leave of absence was not related to her ethics violations.
Burke said there is a long road to repairing the boards damaged reputation and regain the public's trust.
"Good, open, transparent governance is the name of the game for us," he said.
Burke will chair the board until the next school board election in November 2018.
