Former Montreal Expo Tim Raines had quite the following during Sunday's induction into baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
The head of Montreal's "Expos Nation" said his group bussed in nearly 200 Raines supporters to the big event, calling it a diverse crowd.
"You'd think since the team hasn't been around that it would be an older crowd, but we're seeing younger folks as well. Expos Nation brought 4 buses and a 190 fans for the day... it's almost a third, a third a third of Astros fans for thier guy, Rangers fans for thier guy and then, obviously, for Tim Raines, Expos fans", said Matthew Ross.
Ross added there were hundreds of fans even before the buses arrived.
There's word Raines, who's not a formal person, didn't write a speech, that he simply jotted down some notes.
Ross also said Expos fans wore team jerseys from different periods of the club's history to the event.
Other inductees include, Ivan "Pudge'' Rodriguez, who played for Texas and Jeff Bagwell, who played his entire 15-year career for the Houston Astros.
Also inducted, longtime baseball executive John Schuerholz, and former commissioner Bud Selig.
57-year old Raines, who was born in Florida, spent 13 of his 23-year career in Montreal.
He joins Gary Carter and Andre Dawson as the others to be inducted with Expos caps on their plaques.
Raines got a call in January saying he was being inducted in his last year on the ballot.
