No more employer-paid rounds of golf for employees of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
La Presse reports that the Treasury Board put an end to the golf junkets after the Crown corporation spent a record amount on them last year: $42,000.
The CMHC had tried to argue that its employees were marking valuable business contacts while attending bank-sponsored tournaments but the Treasury Board didn't buy that justification.
It notes, however, that CMHC employees can still volunteer at golf events held during working hours.
