Even though its new brewery will be located on the other side of the Saint-Lawrence River, the new Molson Brewery in Longueuil may take some of the iconic pieces from its predecessor in Montreal.
In artist renderings submitted by Molson-Coors to the city of Longueuil, it is revealed that plans for the new $138 million site include using clay bricks that look like those from the original building, as well as the iconic clock that can be seen across downtown Montreal today.
Architectural firm GKC described the planned brickwork as being "inspired by the original Molson brewery." The name Molson will be enshrined, in large white capital letters, across part of the building as well, another nod to the original building.
When the new building is completed, near the Saint-Hubert Airport and the Canadian Space Agency, it will be nearly 800,000 square feet.
