Smokers beware!
It's now against the law to smoke within nine meters of a building door or window in Quebec.
Rob Cunningham, a senior policy analyst for The Canadian Cancer Society spoke with CJAD News.
He's all in favour of the new rule.
"We support having a smoke-free buffer zone for building entrances and exits. t's supported by the public, it's part of a trend across Canada and people have been accustomed to smoke free spaces indoors, but they really don't like having to go through this wall of smoke as they go in and out fo buildings. So, I think its time has come and it's been a year in terms of transition before we get to this date. We support it", said Cunningham.
Such a restruiction has applied to school and health-related buildings since 2006.
Law breakers faces fines, up to $1500 for repeat offenders.
