The operators of a family medicine centre in Pierrefonds say as many as 11,000 patients could be impacted by the recent decision by the Health Minister to create a so-called super-clinic in Pointe Claire.
Doctors at Medistat in Pierrefonds wrote to the health minister with concerns about his super-clinic model.
Dr. Sandra Dykhuis says the Couillard government's budget cuts will reduce staffing levels, and basically eliminate walk-in-syle care for nearly 11,000 patients — those who still don't have family doctors.
"I'm if those super clinics are going to be able to absorb that quantity of patients," she said.
The clinic has already lost one nursing position, adding more work and stress to those remaining.
And those 11,000 patients? They'll need to find somewhere else to go by the end of this month.
